Whenever I travel, I tend to notice the differences in fashion preferences based on location. Here in Florida, I seldom see people wearing the color black. Since temperatures there average around the mid-eighties, I understand why the locals tend to avoid the heat-attracting color.

Instead, I see bright hues of pink, yellow, blue, and green paired with white and beige as neutrals.  Though I am not quite ready to embrace vibrant floral prints, in the spirit of Naples' nautical, preppy style, I took on the challenge of composing an outfit sans the color black.

In this case, navy served as a great substitute! I paired this navy pinstripe skirt with a white off the shoulder blouse and a straw hat to give the look boho-chic feel. I finished the look with a pair of studded gladiator sandals, a classic gold watch, and round sunnies. Though I never imagined wearing circular frames, I love the retro look these shades give to any outfit!

If you're looking for a way to elude the heat this summer, give navy a try! The somewhat forgotten neutral is stylish and oh so chic!
